Tattoo as a ceremonial transition through pain overcoming, by Karina E.

Dear all,
I’m Karina (Instagram link),
I’m pleased to introduce myself as a resident of Pechschwarz Tattoo Berlin. So far, I have 9 years of experience in the art of tattoo, which is not only my profession but a way of life.

I was born and raised in Siberia. Before finishing my degree in architecture I started to work as a tattoo artist. Since I reached the use of reason I knew that tattooing will be a fundamental part of me. It’s a very special feeling — realizing that your art is the chosen one to stay with a person forever. There is something eternal in it.

I perceive the tattoo session as a guided ceremony of a person’s transition from a condition to a distinctive one through pain overcoming while imprinting a change on the mental and physical level.

For me, abstract art is a pure expression of emotion without a link to specific objects.

In my “Body Shape” project, I try to emphasize the beauty of the frozen body movement playing with the contrast of light and shadow.
